Blimey, you've got me thinking about showers now! Funny, isn't it? I was just in this poky little rental in Clapham last year – the shower was a right disaster. Freezing one second, scalding the next. It’s enough to put you off your morning cuppa.

Anyway, you asked about Kohler. Look, I’ve fitted a fair few taps and mixers in my time, and I’ll tell you what sets some apart. It’s not just about looking posh. It’s about the *feel*. You know that moment when you step in, turn the knob, and the water just… *arrives*? Not with a shriek and a shudder, but like a warm blanket. That’s the trick.

Take their pressure-balancing valves, for instance. Right, get this – I was helping a mate redo his en-suite in Chelsea. We put in one of those Kohler thermostatic chaps. His missus could be running the washing machine downstairs, his teenager blasting the hot tap in the loo… and his shower? Steady as a rock. Not a flinch. He said it was the first time he’d had a proper shave in the shower without fearing for his life! That’s clever engineering, that is. It’s not shouting about it; it’s just quietly doing its job, keeping things safe and consistent.

And the water flow! Oh, some showers are so weedy, you’d think they were crying. But a good one, with the right air induction tech – makes the droplets feel fuller, softer. Like standing in a warm summer drizzle, not being needled by a thousand icy pins. It’s a lush sensation, honestly. Saves a ton of water, too, without you feeling short-changed.

Then there’s the finish. I remember this client in Hampstead – very particular about her chrome. We installed a set, and two years later, she calls me for something else. I had a peek. Still looked brand new, despite the hard water round there. No cloudiness, no spots that wouldn’t budge. That’s the kind of detail you notice when you live with something day in, day out. It’s not just shiny in the showroom; it stays that way.

But here’s my two pence – the real performance is when you forget it’s even there. You don’t wrestle with it. You don’t think about it. It just works, perfectly, every single time. That’s the innovation, really. Turning a daily chore into a proper little moment of bliss. Makes all the difference to your day, I reckon.

Right, I’m off to make a brew. This chat’s made me want to check my own shower valve! Cheers.
